Who doesn’t love a holiday within a holiday?
As a surprise Dad had booked a trip to the mountains for us to go..
**DRUMROLL**
…SKIING!!!
Only an hours drive from our apartment are the Sierra Nevada mountains. They tower over the city of Granada and at a massive 3500 meters high they’re home to one of the most Southernly ski resorts in Europe.
I was so excited! For the past couple of years I’ve always been skiing with friends but I decided not to go this year, and was starting to regret my decision, so I was unbelievably happy when Dad told me the plans!
We hopped in the car and off we went, eager to get our first sighting of snow.
We went right to the top of the mountain and then came down into the main part of the town.
It’s not a massive resort and it’s not flashy but it does the job and it certainly was busy enough.
After hiring our skiis and sorting out lift passes (which was so reasonable for the day) we fuelled up before heading further up the mountain.
Then we were off..
The top was heaving with people. (It was a Spanish holiday period after all).
Whilst Dad and I skied mum stuck to the après and relaxed in the sunshine.
Bright green is all the rage…right!?
Melon head springs to mind…
All ready and raring, we were off!
There wasn’t mounds and mounds of snow but it was in all the right places and it was really good.
The views from the top were absolutely breathtaking.
Above the clouds you felt on top of the world.
We went up, down, up, down as many times as we could.
Gondola after gondola, chair lift after chair lift.
After one final run down we reluctantly handed our skis over and headed back to the car.
Where’s Wally ^?
Even though it’s not the prettiest of resorts there were still some beautiful looking apartments and hotels dotted around.
As we left the mountain the clouds descended into the valley..
With the sun warming the peaks we said goodbye to the mountain..for now!!
There’s nothing like a bit of mountain air to clear your lungs.
